Step 2

Visit the Driver License Division – Orem Office

Proof of driver’s education completion or a valid foreign driver’s license
Two proofs of current address (Examples: bank statement, PACE payment receipt, or a mailed letter)

What are the requirements for an accompanying dependent?

Dependents applying for a driver’s license must provide proof of their own immigration status along with documentation for the primary visa holder (F-1 student). The DMV will verify that the dependent’s status matches the primary visa holder’s duration of stay.

Because dependent status can sometimes be difficult to verify, dependents should visit the DMV with the primary F-1 visa holder and bring the following documents:

Most recent I-94 for both the primary visa holder and dependent
Proof of relationship (such as a marriage or birth certificate)
Most recent I-20 or DS-2019 for both the primary visa holder and dependent

Limited Term License or Identification Card

You can now submit your lawful presence documents before your DMV appointment to verify your immigration status in advance.

This process allows the Utah DMV to review and submit your immigration documents to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to confirm eligibility for a Utah driver’s license or identification card.
